[originally posted 7/3/2005] Meditating at the Shrine, its beautiful here in the mountains of Talus..... becoming calm and focused....
I recieve my first Lesson:
"A jedi must learn to solve problems without becoming involved."
From the get go I don't buy it. Being involved is the only way to be balanced. However I understand that desire rather than analysis is dangerous. I'm sent to Keren on Naboo, there I talk to an artist who has a worker she treats badly. Making her dig in the filth for pigment. Her employee is distraught, seeing no way out of her lot in life. After a short talk the employee sees that she can affect her own destiny and goes to seek a better life as I deliver the pigment to her former boss.
Back to the shrine....
"A jedi must solve problems for those they find unappealing."
A single mother with a sick child in Mos Espa sends me to a spice dealer to pick up spice for her child. I'm suppossed to find the idea of spice as medicine unappealing and appaling, yet I see no problem with this considering my former life and gladly assist her. Especially considering the lack of adequate health facilities in Mos Espa.
"A jedi must gather all the information before solving a problem"
Some land developer is selling Gungun land without the proper permissions, I've been asked to remove the 'squatters' Those squatters are the rightful owners and there's no reason to eject them. The buyer can take it up with the seller that is doing so fraduantly.
"A jedi must be calm in the face of emotion"
A young zabrak woman in Bestine is quite upset that her brother ran off with her father's antique pistol. She has little concern over her brother's welfare but does want the pistol back. I went out and found his corpse, the pistol was damaged but returned. After speaking with her she realized that she truly did need to grieve.
(This blog is a fictional journal of a character from the game Star Wars Galaxies. An MMORPG with a strong roleplaying community. Thanks to all the people I play with in the Sunrunner Galaxy. I couldn't tell this story without you.)
